M&#367;&#382;e se jednat jak o mal&eacute;, relativn&#283; ne&scaron;kodn&eacute; infekce, tak o z&aacute;va&#382;n&#283;j&scaron;&iacute; onemocn&#283;n&iacute;, v&#269;etn&#283; rakoviny r&#367;zn&yacute;ch vnit&#345;n&iacute;ch org&aacute;n&#367;. P&#345;&iacute;&#269;iny jejich vzniku jsou r&#367;zn&eacute; a jednou z nej&#269;ast&#283;j&scaron;&iacute;ch je <strong>oxida&#269;n&iacute; stres<\/strong>, kter&yacute; je d&#367;sledkem p&#367;soben&iacute; nebezpe&#269;n&yacute;ch voln&yacute;ch radik&aacute;l&#367;. P&#345;edt&iacute;m v&scaron;ak mus&iacute;me v&#283;d&#283;t, co jsou jejich antagonist&eacute;, tedy voln&eacute; <strong>radik&aacute;ly<\/strong>, proti kter&yacute;m mus&iacute; neust&aacute;le bojovat.<\/p><p>Voln&yacute;mi radik&aacute;ly, naz&yacute;van&yacute;mi tak&eacute; <em>reaktivn&iacute;<\/em> atomy <em>kysl&iacute;ku<\/em> (ROS), rozum&iacute;me atomy kysl&iacute;ku, kter&eacute; v d&#367;sledku r&#367;zn&yacute;ch proces&#367; <em>&#8222;ztratily&#8220;<\/em> jeden elektron, kter&yacute; se norm&aacute;ln&#283; nach&aacute;z&iacute; na jejich posledn&iacute;m orbitu. V takov&eacute; situaci se atom za&#269;ne chovat <em>&#8222;agresivn&#283;&#8220;<\/em>, hled&aacute; chyb&#283;j&iacute;c&iacute; elektron a chce obnovit naru&scaron;enou rovnov&aacute;hu. Za t&iacute;mto &uacute;&#269;elem napad&aacute; sousedn&iacute; atomy kysl&iacute;ku a t&iacute;m, &#382;e je zbavuje elektronu, spou&scaron;t&iacute; jakousi <em>&#8222;&#345;et&#283;zovou reakci<\/em>&#8222;, v jej&iacute;m&#382; d&#367;sledku se v lidsk&eacute;m t&#283;le vytv&aacute;&#345;&iacute; st&aacute;le v&iacute;ce voln&yacute;ch radik&aacute;l&#367;, kter&eacute; se rychle mno&#382;&iacute;.
